by | Oct 10, 2018 | General Pain, Knee Pain, News, Osteoarthritis

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners have developed new guidelines for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee and hip.

Here is a summary of the new guidelines:

  1. A stronger emphasis on exercise and weight management
  2. Knee replacement surgery should only be as a last resort
  3. Advise strongly against using opioids
  4. Avoid using diagnostic imaging as much as possible – MRI, x-ray etc.
